Surprise! People who do Yoga for Sports don’t need to be super-fit or super-bendy.
If you are a sporty(ish) person, you may think that you’re not flexible enough to do yoga – here’s the thing – you don’t need to be :)
It’s about building strength and suppleness to help you go further, be faster and recover quicker.
Many sports people and athletes are realising how beneficial yoga can be; Andy Murray, Ryan Giggs, Bradley Wiggins and even chunky guys like the New York Giants are known for including a regular yoga practise into their training regime.
Yoga for Sports benefits can include:
- greater ease and efficiency of movement
- greater power output and increased stamina
- better posture, control and balance
- breath control and lung capacity – helping you to go further for longer
- prevent injury
- quicker recovery
If you’re more of a yoga type, you may think that Yoga for Sports involves a strong, dynamic practise and you need to be super-strong to keep up. Not true. If anything, we slow down to encourage the key muscles in the legs and hips to release and open.
We create a total body practise with focus on the important leg muscles and core stability – so lots of hamstring and quad stretches, hip openers and ab work to ease and strengthen key areas.
For those who like their yoga simple, no music, no candles, no chanting – just fun yoga with a can-do attitude then come and give it a go.
