June’s Yogi of the Month is Amelia Chiew.

Amelia joined us in January this year and has quickly churned her way through five Flexipasses – amazing commitment!

I’ve just loved watching Amelia’s continual dedication and have seen such an improvement not only in her physical asana and strength but in her connection to the poses.  She’s fully present on the mat, aware of her own movement and structure and immersed in her practise.

Say hello to our Yogi of the Month…

Name: Amelia Chiew

How and why did you find your way on to the mat?

I work on the computer all day, and am always slouching. I wanted to change this and learn to have better posture. I always thought Yogis had great posture so I looked up a Yoga studio near where I lived and found Rosieglo. I love it here!

How did you feel after your first yoga class at Rosieglo Yoga?

I felt really wobbly and stiff, but learned that it’s okay to feel that way!

Have you noticed any benefits or changes in yourself since practising yoga?

Since I went home to Canada, my friends and family have been saying I’ve grown taller! But this is because I have better posture now. (Head on a lollipop stick)

What do you like most about practising at Rosieglo Yoga?

My favourite thing about yoga is learning to be present, and accepting that our body is different everyday. I try to remember this outside of the mat and it has helped me through times when I am too hard on myself.

What’s your favourite pose at the moment or what are you enjoying most?

Right now my favourite pose is dancer’s pose. It challenges your balance and you can do it anywhere!

What words of wisdom would you share with someone who is new to yoga or thinking of giving it a go?

Yoga not only changes your physical body but also changes the way you see yourself. It has also taught me patience. Lots of it! I encourage everyone to try yoga, whether they want a physical or metal change for the better.
