If you’re at the start of your yoga journey and want to try some yoga classes, it can be a bit of a minefield knowing where to start. The internet has made so many classes more accessible to us all, which is a blessing, but it can also be a curse, leaving you a bit confused and skipping between seven different YouTube videos, not really knowing if you’re upward or downward dogging!

We’ve been there, we were all beginners once, and so at Rosieglo we strive to make it super-easy and welcoming for people who are completely new to yoga. Our classes are suitable for all levels so long as you are fairly mobile and can get up and down from the floor unaided. From our Morning Rise classes to Yoga Flow and even our Over 55s class, any ability whether beginner or advanced, is very much welcome. Our classes are crafted so that it is easy for newcomers to join at anytime and our teachers have been chosen because of their nurturing approach and their ability to tailor a class to each individual.

When you’re just starting out with a yoga practice, it can help to get to grips with the basics before you get too caught up with what each pose looks like. All our classes have a core focus on breathing with the movements — no holding your breath over here — and finding the correct alignment for your body. We know that everyone is different, and that’s the beauty of it, that we are all built completely differently. What feels good for one person may feel like the world is caving in for another, so our teachers take the time to find what works for you.

During a yoga class we will explore how you can breath to aid movement and calm the mind. We’ll move through seated postures, standing flows, twists and balances to get you to a place where you start to remember poses and names and work out how they should feel in your body. Over time, you’ll learn to tune-in and know when you feel like challenging yourself and when to ease-off.

It’s easy to get bamboozled by fancy yoga tricks and jaw-dropping poses that you may see on the internet, but that isn’t really our vibe. We like to focus on helping people feel confident and happy in their own practice, whatever that looks like for them.

We cater all our classes for a variety of abilities, and we promise you will be in good hands.

If you are generally fit and able, find a class time that works for you and begin from there.  If you’re the type of person who likes to know that they’re beginning at the beginning then come along to one of our Beginners classes which will be a little more slower paced and detailed, whilst you find your way.

If it’s been a while since you stepped on the mat and you’re feeling a little rusty, our special ‘Back to Yoga’ class will help you to get your foundations solid and find your glo. We know it can be daunting, so this class is designed to get you feeling into your body once again and finding that ‘ah, that’s better’ moment.

One piece of advice we would give for beginners is to just start. If you think you might like yoga, give it a go. We promise we will be there to do everything we can to make you feel at ease. Grab some stretchy clothes and a bottle of water, and join us on the mat for an hour to yourself. If this sounds like something you want to try, book onto one of our yoga classes in Cheltenham. You can see all our class details and book via our online Timetable.
