So you’ve cleared a space, you’ve rolled out your mat, you’ve set up the lap top with your favourite online yoga class, the lighting is just right or maybe the sunlight is hitting your mat in an inviting manner.
You tap the play button and there’s your friendly teacher, inviting you on to your mat. You settle in your seat, close your eyes, feel your breath begin to deepen and
*Door opens, kids, partner, dog, parents barge in*
“oops sorry, didn’t realise you were in here”
*Patient smile, door closes*
You inwardly roll eyes, rewind video, press play and there’s your friendly teacher, waiting patiently, inviting you on to your mat. You settle in your seat, close your eyes, feel your breath begin to deepen and
*Door opens, kids, partner, dog, parents barge in again*
“Sorry, I know you’re doing yoga but do you know where the dog/remote control/milk/ipad/phone/child is?”
*You give an exasperated sigh, a slightly less patient smile, tell them where the dog/remote control/milk/ipad/phone/child is, and close the door*
You outwardly roll eyes, shake head, perhaps utter a few words under your breath, rewind video, hit play and there’s your friendly teacher, still waiting patiently (lucky them!), inviting you on to your mat. You sit down, shut your eyes, try to breathe, your head still does a few little cross shakes, you take a deeper breath, purposefully unclench your fists and things at last begin to soften.
You notice your breath beginning to ease, your body beginning to ground, your spine lengthens and there’s a lightness coming in to the neck, the crown of the head, you are surrounded by space and calm and
nah – it’s no good, now you need a wee.
Does this sound familar?
It can be tricky to find some space to do your home yoga practise during this home-bound era we find ourselves in. So we thought you might find this little door sign helpful :)
Print it out and stick it on your door to ensure your yoga time doesn’t get disturbed and you can emerge a happier, brighter, calmer person.
