November’s Yogi of the Month is Jo Parker.

Jo joined our Yoga for Sports class earlier this year.  When she first got in touch she was quite apprehensive and said ‘I’m scared I might not be bendy enough’!  After some reassurance that you don’t have to be bendy to do yoga (I say this a lot!) she stepped into the studio and has been a regular student ever since. It’s been lovely to watch Jo’s confidence and awareness grow on the mat as she has developed faith in her body and what it can do. She has a really lovely practise and continues to refine and progress.
Jo is leaving Cheltenham for pastures new but we really hope to see her at the studio whenever she is passing.
Say hello to our Yogi of the Month…

Name: Jo Parker

How and why did you find your way on to the mat?

I was new to Cheltenham and felt like I needed something to do in the evenings, to meet some people and to stop me staring at my phone! Yoga was something I had always wanted to do but never quite been brave enough, so I did a bit of research, found Rosieglo, and decided to take a leap!

How did you feel after your first yoga class at Rosieglo Yoga?

I really enjoyed my first class and I remember feeling really proud that I’d actually walked into a room of strangers! I left that class feeling so calm and unfrazzled!

Have you noticed any benefits or changes in yourself since practising yoga?

I run quite regularly and I am awful at stretching! Yoga has really helped me listen to my body and look after it a little more. It’s also really helped clear my often over thinking brain, I always leave class feeling calmer and more in control.

What do you like most about practising at Rosieglo Yoga?

Rosie is great, she takes time to get to know everyone’s individual abilities and is so welcoming. I love that the classes are small and I’ve made a great friend from class too!

What’s your favourite pose at the moment or what are you enjoying most?

I always enjoy hip work, recently we have been working on our Double Pigeon pose, I surprised myself with this one and have really noticed a difference over the short time we have been working on it.

What words of wisdom would you share with someone who is new to yoga or thinking of giving it a go?

Give it a try! It’s the best feeling after a class. Give yourself some time to get to connect with your body and don’t worry about anyone else in the room!
