June’s Yogi of the Month is Diana Holliman.
Di has been nominated by our teacher Janet Benn and we all whole-heartedly agreed.
Di has clocked up an impressive 104 classes so far since joining – super impressive!
We’ve all been struck by Di’s unwavering enthusiasm and willingness to try anything. She approaches her time on the mat with good humour and is never so focused on the outcome that she loses the love for her practise. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Say hello to our Yogi of the Month…
Name: Diana Holliman
How and why did you find your way on to the mat? I was recently retired, 62, and had been vaguely thinking about starting yoga. I wanted something active in my week that would do me good. I had done a tiny bit of looking around to see what was available but nothing had really grabbed my attention. Then a Rosieglo flyer plopped through my door and it just felt right to give it a try, especially as there was a class for over 55s.
How did you feel after your first yoga class at Rosieglo Yoga? Surprised at what I could do…and what I couldn’t! And very happy to come again.
Have you noticed any benefits or changes in yourself since practising yoga? I am definitely stronger and more flexible. The aches and niggles in my knees have gone, my back doesn’t ache the way it used to and the best thing is being able to cut my toenails just like I could when I was 20.
What do you like most about practising at Rosieglo Yoga? I like the small classes, the tucked away studio and the flexipass which makes it so easy to try different classes. It’s a very friendly and welcoming place, and never so serious that we can’t have a laugh.
What’s your favourite pose at the moment or what are you enjoying most? I’m enjoying Warrior 3! I never thought I would say that when I first tried it but when it works it feels so good.
What words of wisdom would you share with someone who is new to yoga or thinking of giving it a go? Just do it…you have nothing to lose and so much to gain. And don’t be afraid to try out different classes and teachers; Rosie will guide you if you feel you have no idea where to start. Enjoy your practice!
