September’s Yogi of the Month is Matt Davies.

Matt’s practise has really progressed since he joined us in March this year.  He often comes to our Sports Yoga class to focus on hips and hamstrings and his dedication on the mat is fab.  It’s easy to let the ego dominate, particularly in our Sports Yoga class when the desire to push yourself to be bendier or stronger can often lead us to torment.  I’ve been really impressed with Matt’s intelligent approach.  He listens to and respects the body and always works mindfully to his edge and is getting great results.   His breathwork has notably improved and he is able to pace his practise, syncing movement with breath.  Nice work Matt :)

Say hello to our Yogi of the Month…

Name: Matt Davies

How and why did you find your way on to the mat?

I had been thinking about trying yoga for a while as I’d been aware my flexibility could be better. A work colleague mentioned she’d been to Rosieglo and suggested I give it a try!

How did you feel after your first yoga class at Rosieglo Yoga?

My first class was a free taster and I really enjoyed it. I was made to feel welcome and Rosie clearly explained what we were doing so I felt like I was part of the class from the start.

Have you noticed any benefits or changes in yourself since practising yoga?

The thing I’ve valued the most has been the process of thinking about my breathing and linking it to my movement. This proved very helpful during a recent half marathon race.

What do you like most about practising at Rosieglo Yoga?

I like that it’s a relatively small class and Rosie takes care to know everyone and appreciate their differing levels of yoga experience. I’ve also made some new friends which is great!

What’s your favourite pose at the moment or what are you enjoying most?

I enjoy anything that helps my hips and hamstrings try and get more flexible!

What words of wisdom would you share with someone who is new to yoga or thinking of giving it a go?

I have actually already recommended the classes to some friends and will continue to do so in the future.
I think everyone can benefit from being more in tune with their bodies, plus you feel great afterwards.
