Working Towards Headstand

Working Towards Headstand

Saturday 28th September | 2.00-4.00pm

Join us for an empowering and informative yoga workshop to learn the essential techniques and build the confidence needed to master the art of the headstand (Sirsasana).

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, this workshop is designed to guide you step-by-step in safely approaching this challenging yet rewarding pose.

What to Expect:

Warm-Up and Preparation: We’ll begin with a gentle warm-up to prepare the body, focusing on strengthening and opening the areas that support the headstand. Emphasis will be placed on core strength and shoulder stability, crucial for a successful inversion.

Foundational Techniques: We’ll cover the key principles of alignment, balance, and breathwork, exploring the building blocks of inversions, correct weight distribution, and practice how to enter and exit headstand safely.

Guided Practice: Under the careful guidance of our experienced instructor, you’ll work on various preparatory poses and exercises that build the strength and awareness necessary for a headstand.

Assisted Headstands: For those ready, you’ll have the opportunity to practice your headstand with the support of props or a partner, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.

Advanced Techniques and Benefits: We’ll look at the benefits of headstands and techniques for holding the posture for longer periods (only if you want to), helping you deepen your practice.

Cool Down and Reflection: We’ll end with a soothing cool-down and guided relaxation, allowing you to integrate what you’ve learned and reflect on your progress.

Who Should Attend:

This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice, build strength and balance, and explore inversions in a supportive environment. No prior experience with headstands is required, but familiarity with basic yoga poses is recommended. And it’s not necessary to actually achieve a headstand on the day – it’s all about putting the steps in place and practicing over time.
